Captain Scott Garner started his career with SVPD in September 2021 after serving twenty four years in the City of Santa Cruz and was promoted to the position of Captain in June 2022.  He grew up in a military family living in numerous areas across the United States until calling California home again in 1997.  He brings a vast variety of education, training, and experience to us and is very excited about working for this department and community.  In his personal time, he enjoys fishing, mountain biking, sports, dirt-biking, photography, coaching his son's baseball and football teams, going to the movies, and spending time with his wife, Cristy, and son, Sebastian aka "Seabass".
