Sgt. Roberts grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley and graduated from SLV in 2003.  He has always wanted to a Police officer, and has two brothers who are also in law enforcement.  Before deciding to become a law enforcement officer,  Sgt. Roberts was a Journeyman certified Electrician with over 7 years of experience in the electrical field.  He and his wife, Lindsay, are both natives of Santa Cruz County and live in Aptos with their three kids.
