The Scotts Valley Police Department's Records Unit is part of the Administrative Services Division.  This unit is under the direct supervision of Services Supervisor Tamera Melrose and she oversees a unit of four Emergency Dispatch Clerks and two Emergency Dispatch Clerk-II's.  records

Our Emergency Dispatchers are also records clerks so they perform a multitude of duties beyond dispatch.   Being a dispatcher in Scotts Valley can be hard work because they must be able to handle all radio traffic, answer all emergency and non-emergency calls, greet citizens who come into our lobby and process records.   The majority of the records tasks they perform relate to processing reports being sent to allied agencies, entering citations, reports and making entries into the statewide CLETS system.

As part of records they are also responsible for Public Records Act requests, court ordered seals, processing subpoenas and many other ancillary duties of the department.

The EDC-II’s are responsible for all of the property/evidence brought into the department.  They inventory, quality check and maintain a tight control of the evidence.  They are also responsible for purging evidence once a case has been adjudicated and prepare materials for court purposes.

The EDC-II’s and the Services Supervisor act as the I.T. / Network specialists who maintain and often fix department equipment and resolve various software and hardware issues  throughout the department.
